Encore Community

Click here for Pastor Dave's diagram of the Encore Community.

Encore is a group of people who are in life-stage transitions from empty nest to planning for retirement - people who may be caring for aging parents while enjoying the benefits of being grandparents. They may be looking forward to doing something significant with their lives for the Lord. If this sounds like you, there are opportunities available to connect with others in similar life stages to make a difference in the lives of others. Join with this body of believers and reach out into the community through this vital and significant ministry.

Visitation
A team from the Encore Community group visit those who are hospitalized or house-bound due to physical limitations. To join, please contact Dave McElheran or Cindy Meyer.

ElderCare Series

As we and our parents are living longer lives, there are many more decisions that need to be made. You may be asking questions such as:

  • Should parents move closer to their children?

  • How much and when should they downsize living accommodations?

  • What options are available for assisted living? When is it appropriate?

  • What government benefits are available?

  • What can CMBC do to help?

We encourage you at whatever life stage you are in, to participate in this six-week class to learn practical steps to answer these questions and many more. We want to help you make this time more productive and God-honoring as you care for loved ones. We usually offer this class in the spring and fall. Look for upcoming classes in the O & E. The cost is $10 per person or $15 per couple.

High School Mentoring Program

Adult Mentoring provides Beaverton High School with positive, consistent role models who:

  • Help students set goals for their future and increase their academic achievement using basic skills of organization.

  • Hold students accountable for school work while encouraging effective social skills and means of communicating.

  • Are an adult friend; a relationship between two people built on an unconditional caring, commitment, and trust.

We will give an introduction to the program for all interested in becoming mentors.

For more information on any of the above activities, contact Dave McElheran or Cindy Meyer.
